Crisis or Opportunity?
Sometimes opportunities arrive and feel like a crisis or great challenge, and can create uncertainty, fear, and disrupt our lives. But sometimes, this so-called “crisis” is the opportunity we didn’t even know we had been waiting for and needed. Would you consider losing your job and being made redundant an opportunity or a challenge? When this happened to me recently, I initially saw it through the lens of fear and considered it a crisis. It was unplanned and felt very scary. Now, a few weeks later, I want to share how I reframed this experience and how money coaching helped me to navigate what might have been otherwise, a very challenging situation.

A few weeks ago, I found out that the business I work for had been sold. My initial reaction was shock. I tried to understand what this meant for me, professionally and financially. Everything felt suddenly unstable, as if the carpet had been pulled from underneath my feet.
In money coaching, we work with money archetypes. In that moment, I could clearly see my Innocent taking the lead. She was panicking, looking for safety, not knowing what to do next. Her priority was simple: feel safe again.
Once I managed to calm my nervous system and step out of fight-or-flight mode, something shifted. I realised that life was offering me space, space for Growing into more of who I wanted to be and to do what my heart truly desired. It wasn’t delivered gently, but it was the exactly the push I needed.
I was standing at a crossroads. I could continue life as I had known it for the past few years, or I could take a leap of faith and commit to my money coaching project. You can probably guess which option I chose!
Getting there wasn’t easy. I had to call in my Warrior, the goal-oriented, logical part of my brain to help with decision-making and to hold my Innocent’s hand, reminding her: you’re okay, we have a plan.
Next, I invited my Magician and Creator/Artist to step in. I needed their help to dream, and reimagine what was possible and to transform the situation and reshape my reality. This was about claiming my inner power and trusting my own journey.
The sale of the business wasn’t something I could control. The gift of money coaching, I was able to move into a far greater possibility. It gave me something far more valuable: the tools to navigate uncertainty consciously rather than reactively out of fear and loss. I recognised my patterns, noticed which version of me (i.e…money types) was leading my decisions, and intentionally chose a different response. That was the part I could control.
Today, I’m deeply grateful that I’m in a position to back myself and invest in my future doing what I love: money coaching. What continues to inspire me about my work as a money coach is that while our circumstances may differ, we all have the ability to see, think and feel things differently and learn to transform how we relate to them.
Money coaching doesn’t remove challenges, it gives us the tools to face them with clarity, confidence, and freedom of choice.
I invite you to reflect on a situation in your own life, past or present, that initially felt like a setback, but later revealed itself as an opportunity. What happened and what did you do with the invitation to embrace change arrived in your life? I’d love to hear your story!
